Greg and I bought this fun book last summer in San Francisco at my favorite store Anthropologie. (Favorite store to browse and get ideas, not purchase from--that would be Target). Anyway, it looked like fun and we decided as a family to do as many as possible. The very first idea in the book is to plant a tree as a family. So we did!

Jaren and Kaelyn getting in on the hard labor! Everybody took a turn with the shovels, Lucky Greg got the most turns!

We have noticed the beautiful dogwood trees ever since we moved to California 6 years ago. I don't remember seeing them in Idaho or Utah--are they there? Anyway, that's what we picked, a little pink dogwood tree.

The book suggested measuring the kids against the height of the tree every few years to monitor the growth of the tree. So this picture shows the tree is barely taller than Kaelyn (And Jaren for that matter who is catching up quickly to his sister!) It was super fun to get the kids involved and I can't to wait to watch our family tree grow!
Kaelyn caught this big guy in our backyard last week. I'm going to check that book to see if it says anything about catching lizards--Maybe we can check off 2 things this week!
